Despite their near-constant stream of bleary-eyed live recordings, studio efforts from the Brattleboro, Vermont duo of Matt Valentine and Erika Elder and their revolving circle of collaborators are few and far between. Country Stash LP, MV & EE's most recent, combines old, road-worn favorites with original numbers and cameos by Mick Flower, Jeremy Earl, Doc Dunn, Mike Smith, and other psychedelic fringe-rock heads. Climb onto one of the distressed guitar tendrils on album cut "The Crash Palace of Records," below, and don't be surprised if you hallucinate the smell of wet leaves on a Summer's eve in New England. --Emilie Friedlander, Altered Zones
