Moon Duo, the stone-faced minimal psych project of Wooden Shjips' Ripley Johnson and Sanae Yamada, recently relocated from their native San Francisco to the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. They also cut the follow-up to last year's Escape LP on Woodsist, which will see the light of day late this March on fellow Brooklyn imprint Sacred Bones. "Mazes," the title track, suggests that they have gone a bit easier on the delay and distortion this time around, pulling back the veil on their tight-lipped, repetition-based synth/guitar composotions to reveal what could almost be mistaken for a lost chapter in the Neu! catalogue-- vocals aside.
Mazes LP is out March 29 on Sacred Bones Records
