As the story goes, Linda Perhacs recorded Parallelograms in 1970, then put her career aside and became a dental technician for 30 years. Of course, thats not the whole story, as the rustic, psych-tinged folk songstress's music slowly influenced generations of natural world seekers and freak folk troubadours. It's influence on songwriters, in particular the Nevada City scene (or New Weird America, or whatever you wanna call it), cemented her reputation as a cosmic ballader. And so, Parallelograms is getting the re-issue treatment again, this time via Mexican Summer. Why so many reissues? Well, just listen to Chimacum Rain, a song so strong and unparalleled in its connection to the natural realm, I sometimes have to snap to and remind myself I'm not listening to field recordings from an angelic forest.
