Knock knock. Is anybody home? Following last month's "Make Me Over" video, LA Vampires' Amanda Brown (profiled this Tuesday as 1/2 of Los Angeles imprint Not Not Fun) returns with another Sherman-esque ode to surface. Gone is the commanding drum circle seductress of her Pocahaunted days; Amanda has gone glam, albeit in the most shape-shifting way possible, and her new "How Would You Know" video feels like "Part 2" of an extended game of '90s diva dress-ups. The scuzzy, faux-R&B backing track, pre-fab'd by fellow Los Angeleno Matrix Metals, plays kitsch with as straight a face as a flygirl doing a booty-drop. As for what La Vampires is trying to get at here, especially in the relationship between the two female performers, "how would you know?" provides the comic punchline. (Visitation Rites co-premiere)
