With its post-hardcore folk jangle, this cut from Way Through-- aka Upset the Rhythm's Chris and Clare-- captures the joy of an elusive English sun breaking through the sky to shine upon that communal procession by which the years are counted. Before its triumphant finale, it delves into a pond of static that is in fact a field recording from the Whittlesea Straw Festival, where on Plough Tuesday, a straw bear dances along the streets in exchange for gifts of money, food or beer-- like bands do, same as it ever was. --20 Jazz Funk Greats
