Righteous Acid is the psychedelic solo project of Bakersfield, CA's Alex Sarad, trap-drum player for The Invisible Astro Healing Rhythm Quartet. "Casa Zimbabwe," a track from his new tape on Cameron Stallones/Sun Araw's Sun Ark imprint, channels snappy polyrhythms and snarling wah guitar into his own tightly wound brand of pan-world-inspired funk. Imagine "Beach Point Pleasant"-era Ducktails spinning his Ethiopian inflections into dance music, or '70s prog with a case of the blues. --Emilie Friedlander, Visitation Rites
