San Francisco duo Water Borders may have obsessed over '80s industrial legends and UK dance productions, but their real influences are far more creepy and remote. "What Wiwant"-- a dark, dense track that lives in a remote desert far after the sun has set-- is the first glimpse into their upcoming debut Harbored Mantras, out on Tri Angle October 10th. The hushed rhythms of a lost tribe offer a sliver of solace, but only until the powerful vocals take hold and arouse primal instincts long since repressed. Rattlers hiss and threaten as the patchwork of digital and analog sounds act like deep sand, disorientating your limbs. Maybe it’s all in your head, but it sure feels real. --Yours Truly
