Tropic of Cancer: "A Color"

Tropic of Cancer have been building up a reputation for a little while now, but their 12" on Blackest Ever BlackThe Sorrow of Two Blooms, contains some of their most enticing gems yet. Straddling the minimalist synth camp with a touch of haunted ambience and a smear of post-punk's downcast eyes, the duo conjures darkened spirits of goth's tortured past. In Tropic of Cancer's world, not a ray of sun finds its way into the corners of Sorrow and rain continually streaks the glass behind heavy velvet curtains. If this is just a taste of what's to come, then we should all be intrigued. -- Andy French, Raven Sings The Blues
