This is the aural accompaniment to the soon to be released film Twelve Dark Noons, which is a joint venture between Night People and Sacred Bones. Here again, Naked on the Vague is in full four-piece form and the extra push of drummer Lachlan Vercoe and bassist Nic De Jong bring a rhythmic clarity to their darkened post-punk. While the film is reportedly a manic unraveling of minds set in the Australian outback, the EP doesn't quite touch on anything that psychedelic. It mines a sinister strain of '80s post-punk that feels as at home with SB reissues like 13th Chime as it does in between your old Bauhaus records. Definitely some of the band's strongest songs yet and an inkling of the direction they're headed in as their sound solidifies. Check out the teaser for Twelve Dark Noons, directed by Jaqueline Castel. --Andy French, Raven Sings the Blues
